Full Sail University strives to prepare its students for jobs in entertainment media and emerging technologies through real-world learning and hands-on classes. Many Full Sail graduates have reached award-winning heights during their post-college careers: Alumni are frequently credited on nominated projects for the Oscars, Grammys, Emmys, and Game Awards. Over the last few years, hundreds of grads have contributed to award-worthy movies, songs, television shows, and video games.
The Oscars
At the 2023 Oscars, 121 Full Sail graduates were credited on 27 nominated projects in 20 categories, including Best Picture, Best Visual Effects, and Best Animated Feature Film. This includes 35 graduates who worked on Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, which received five nominations including Best Visual Effects and Best Costume Design.
At the 2022 Oscars, 119 graduates were credited on 29 nominated films, with 35 graduates credited on eight winning films, including Best Picture winner CODA.
The Grammys
Full Sail got its start as a recording workshop, and throughout the school's history, grads have made a huge mark in the music industry, especially at the annual Grammy Awards. At the 2023 Grammy Awards, more than 40 graduates were credited on 53 nominated projects in 38 categories. Twelve graduates were credited on 11 Grammy-winning projects in categories like Album of the Year and Record of the Year.
The 2022 Grammys saw 46 Full Sail graduates credited on 60 nominated projects in 44 categories. Twelve graduates were credited on 10 Grammy-winning projects.
The Emmys
At the 2022 Primetime Emmy Awards, 288 graduates were credited on 228 nominated projects. Fifteen grads were nominated for their own Emmy statuettes in categories like Outstanding Sound Mixing for a Comedy or Drama Series (Half-Hour) and Outstanding Special Visual Effects in a Season or a Movie.
The Game Awards
Video games feature skills from several different disciplines taught at Full Sail, from game design and development to computer animation and audio recording. So it shouldn't be too surprising that our grads are represented in big numbers at the annual Game Awards. For the 2022 Game Awards, more than 200 Full Sail graduates were credited on over 25 nominated projects in 21 categories. Thirty grads were credited on God of War Ragnarök, which won six awards including Best Action Adventure and Best Audio Design.
More than 20 Full Sail grads were credited on The Last of Us Part II, which won the award for 2020’s Game of the Year.
Full Sail’s Hall of Fame
Many of Full Sail’s award-winning grads have also been inducted into the university’s Hall of Fame. Each year, six graduates who have made significant contributions to their industry and the Full Sail community are selected for the Hall of Fame. One inductee, Gary Rizzo, won the Oscar for Best Sound Mixing in 2011 for his work on Inception and received another Oscar for Best Sound Mixing in 2018 for Dunkirk.
