Welcome to BROADWAY BOUND. This performance competition, brought to you by MainStreet Musicals, constitutes the cutting edge of a project that was launched 35 years ago - under the name National Music Theater Network. The project’s original mission was – and still is – to provide exposure for new musicals throughout America – and to expand the regional market for new works development.
How is that mission related to this competition? Well, if you’ve visited our site, I’m sure you’ve noticed that Broadway Bound contestants perform NEW SONGS from NEW THEATRICAL MUSICALS. That’s what we call “EXPOSURE.” For new shows, as with new performing talent, exposure is probably the most important tool to aid in the transition into revenue-producing, professional activities.
For you young performers fresh out of college and transitioning into “the business,” it’s critical that people see you - so as to recognize and evaluate your TALENT. Broadway Bound provides “exposure” – LOTS of exposure. And not just to you, the performer-contestants. It offers exposure to the works you’ll be performing…. the product of over 40 artists who wrote the songs that have been selected for you to learn and perform.
If we’ve done our job right, Broadway Bound will expose you to the professional community – to the world - as performers. And at the same time, your performances will introduce the wonderful new songs you’re choosing - from the wonderful new shows they come from.
